THE POWERS OF AEIOUS

When the world was very young, the function and definitions of powers and their attributes were firmly established in stolid order. The Qarins learned and recorded that nature followed the balance and flux of these powers. They discovered that natural powers existed to support and sustain all the present ecosystems, critically necessary in the continuous existence of all living beings.

These natural powers the Qarins called the Shilao, a Qarin word that means bright light in modern translations. The Qarins believed that light represented life and the greater the light, the stronger the life force within. They discovered that each life represented the various Shilao. Flight, healing, speed, venom, growth, and a slew of other abilities represented the pulsing Shilao. Each life form carried a part of the light, each integrated in the balance of nature.

Over the course of their reign as the first caretakers of the world, the Qarins also discovered another form of power, a smaller specific form. The new powers were few and unique in some species. These abilities did not fall into the natural flow of nature’s balance, for even without these abilities the ecosystems continued to function. Unlike the Shilao, which is strictly necessary for nature to subsist continuously, the Alfarahs (as the Qarins called them) existed outside the general cycle. These new abilities boosted the specie’s natural existence, sometimes offsetting the delicate balance and order. Luckily, only a few and select life forms carried the Alfarah ability. With this knowledge the Qarins of the First Age determined the balance and connection of every present power in the world of AEIOUS. They kept this knowledge in their ancient records and continued to explore the young world’s mysteries.

When the Qarin broke the Weave and allowed chaos to enter the world, the balance of the Shilao and Alfarah was corrupted. The Weave’s searing essence broke and ravaged the current state of the natural powers. Some Shilaos were morphed into Alfarahs while the Alfarahs were altered into Shilaos. This caused great changes in the world causing very sudden radical shifts. As the natural ecosystem adapted to this change, new creatures were born while old creatures were replaced or evolved, as some species became extinct overnight. The presence of the Weave electrified the ecosystem, causing the merging of some Shilao abilities with Alfarahs, giving birth to the first known Omegas. Powers evolved and disappeared only to reappear again, some in greater form while others in diminished efficacy.

Due to the permeating presence of the Weave, a few life forms that developed greater capacities began to manifest the ability to adapt or learn the Shilaos and Alfarahs of other creatures: where those that did not necessarily need the Shilao of flight began to learn or manifest that ability. Even the Alfarahs of unique creatures started to manifest in other life forms. This began the process of learned or acquired powers that is now called by many as Affinity Genes. When a life form or denizen of AEIOUS carries an active Affinity Gene, s/he carries the ability to learn the Shilaos present in the natural world and potentially carry or develop Alfarahs and/or Omegas that were previously unique in some species. The potential to develop, learn, or acquire new powers specially for species traditionally without the capacity to do
so is a result of the Quesh Weave’s force.

When the time of the Th'ao and Morancan came, the old world's original balance was no longer present. In its place stood a new ecosystem full of Affinity Gene powers that persisted up to the present time and is believed to be continuously evolving. It evolved into such degree that the children of the Th’ao and Morancan started to manifest inherent powers from birth. As much as they could, the denizens of this world tried to categorize what they saw into a knowledge that many will or might understand. With the return of the Qarins, the higher knowledge of Shilaos was opened to the posterior races. Over time, the term Intrinsic Alphas took over the name Alfarah, while the Shilao was translated into the name Sequra. Omega powers also gained ground as the children of AEIOUS grew stronger in their mastery of these powers.

During the Old Age, a great number of AEIOUS’ children carried the active Affinity Gene. But as the decades progressed, those that carried this seed became less and less in numbers. Even the potency of the genes began to decline over time amongst the denizens and the various species of the world. Today, with greater understanding, people have developed a better grasp of the current stability of the present powers in the world. But as hard as the children of AEIOUS try to make sense of the powers and abilities and the key Affinity Genes present around them, the presence of the Weave and the essence behind it continues to rage the change that continuously sears the balance of the world since the time of the Qarin.

Of the different children of the world, the potency of the Affinity Gene is very strong in some like the Qarin, Buashi, Zerai, Liloch, Synthezus, Kyrrnes, and Shi'an. Many of the children born in these lineage carry the active genes in strong potency. The gene is less active (specially in the modern times) amongst the children of the Th’ao, Morancan, Nu’mei, Simulus, Scionar, Kyiokenjin, and Draenatar. But the sheer number of these people nearly offsets the numbers of the first group. There are children present with the full complement of powers from birth, some with half the strength. Most though have latent genes that almost always fail to manifest, producing a world where many people live normal ordinary lives, busy in the hustle and bustle of regular living.

As a child of AEIOUS, you are part of the select few with the active Affinity Genes roaring in full rage. You now have in your
hands the ability to learn and use magnificent powers. You hold the key to develop your Sequra, Intrinsic Alphas, and Omegas as far as you want. Be wise and use your gifts with fervor, exhausting all possible methods.

As a child of AEIOUS, even you with latent genes are not exempt from a life full of wonderful adventure. So bust your chops and pick your gear, and dive into a wild ride you will never forget.
